Graduate Student Opportunities
Process of Becoming a Member
TOPPS graduate student members dedicate a minimum of 7 scheduled hours per week conducting their responsibilities and attending a 60 minute program meeting. TOPPS is usually federally funded; therefore, graduate students are more times than not expected to work on research grants, usually as performance coaches and/or administrators up to 20 hours a week. They are culturally diverse, passionate to learn, responsive to feedback, intelligent, achievement oriented, socially adept, and compassionate. As an undergraduate student they evidence a minimum G.P.A. of 3.4. If you meet these criteria, please click the application tab below if you are interested.
If your application is not accepted for an interview you will receive a letter encouraging you to apply in the future when your application is stronger. If your application is accepted you will receive an email or telephone call inviting you for a telephone, videoconference, or in-person interview with Dr. Donohue (Program Director) within 1 week of your submission. If you do not receive correspondence within 1 week, please contact the Membership Coordinator at 702 895 2468.
Dr. Donohue will evaluate your match with his interests, your character and your qualifications during the interview. He will answer questions, review the process of applying for the Clinical Psychology, Ph.D., Department of Psychology at UNLV (if applicable), and upon request he will discuss your potential of getting into this department. If you are not interested in applying to the Ph.D. Department of Psychology at UNLV, but are a graduate student interested in being a TOPPS member, there are two possibilities; 1) you will not be accepted into TOPPS and receive a letter encouraging you to apply in the future when your application is stronger, or 2) you are accepted and receive an email or telephone call within 1 week scheduling you for an electronic orientation and program meeting, in-person feedback meeting, and you will be initially assigned to Community Service, Training, and/or Program Development and Evaluation. If you do not receive correspondence within 48 hours please contact the Membership Coordinator at 702-895-2468.
